• We use our directv remote to control volume on soundbar so I would think so.

• I was told, by phoning customer service, that you have to have a Vizio TV if you want to only use one remote to control sound on both the TV and the sound bar. My impression is that there is no cable or satellite remote that will control this sound bar. You would always have to use at least two remotes for that. Sorry.
