• The distance between outer stand legs is 41.42", they are not adjustable.

• If the tv stand was made for 51 inch tv the no but normally tv stand range from like 45 inch to 55 inches

• So, the legs are pretty much firmly locked in place and can't be adjusted; however, the feet are positioned far in enough to where they'll rest comfortably on a 50" TV stand. They might be sitting right next to each edge, but you should be alright.
