• My only concerns would be that a) it looked like the TV was too big for the platform it was sitting on, and b) if the TV is accidently moved 'slightly' (maybe during cleaning of the area or by a child) the TV could 'crash to the floor'. I personally would probably not do it but your risk assessment might be different than mine.

• I just took a tape measure out, it looks like 53" would work, it would just be tight.
