It doesn't have a tv receiver built in. If you have cable or satellite you can use the remote that came with set top box to watch tv. The Vizio comes with a tablet to control and set up the tv as well a simple remote for common functions

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Vizio took out the cable plug so it doesnt have a tuner. so it technically can't be called a tv. So they renamed it a display. My cable ran to a digital box and then used an hdmi to run to my tv so it didn't matter. Most everything is hdmi now a days anyways. So your traditional cable from the wall only puts the signal to a box then to the tv via hdmi
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The actual TV is called a home theater display instead of a TV because it does not have a TV tuner built in. If you use any type of cable service that uses a box (Cox, AT&T, TWC, etc.) you do not need this tv tuner and it doesn't matter. If you use an antennae to get your tv it won't work with this display. The display comes with a tablet to control it, or you can use your smartphone.

You do not need a smartphone to view it, necessarily, but you can pair your own smartphone or tablet to it to use as a remote. It does come with an Android tablet remote already. Because VIZIO SmartCast™ puts control of the display into your mobile device, we’re now able to make updates much faster and more frequently, right to your VIZIO SmartCast™ app. If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to reach out to our Support team at 844.254.8088. – Collin
