• The sound bar will automatically power off after a period of inactivity but you can wake it up by casting audio apps to it.

• Try going into your TV settings with your main remote and make sure you have both audio and channel set up to the bar. That might make a difference. I don’t use it for that but I know when I set up, that you can use it as the main volume and system, or connect it as more of a add on. That’s the only part I had o figure out. Hope it helps !
