The sound bar will automatically power off after a period of inactivity but you can wake it up by casting audio apps to it.

Try going into your TV settings with your main remote and make sure you have both audio and channel set up to the bar. That might make a difference. I don’t use it for that but I know when I set up, that you can use it as the main volume and system, or connect it as more of a add on. That’s the only part I had o figure out. Hope it helps !
