If the primary base connection is attached to the respective Verison Home Box, they should be separate. The handsets are just attached to an electric outlet so the hadset stays charged. I would ask Verizon how you would keep the signals from the base to go to the handset so they don't cross over. I am not technical enough to know if the signals would go to the correct base to stay searate. I believe the signal is WiFi wireless. Do each family have their own WiFi? please verify with Verizon as we don't know the correct answer for you. Our landline is by Spectrum, and we just plugged the VTech where our other phone line was located and we placed the handsets where we wanted another extension and it set itself up. The extension bases have to be plugged in to recharge each handset. We have the landline and also our own cell phone service. Wish I were an expert, but some of the Best Buy employees can explain this better for you.
