We do not live I an area with new construction and have to replace once a month. I don't know what gives, but it is expensive.

For best filtration results, filter cartridge should be replaced every six months* or 300 gallons (*Replace sooner if flow rate noticeably declines). If there is new construction in your area, there can be more sediment entering the water system. This extra sediment can clog your filters more frequently than the recommended 6 months. You may want to check with your water company.
