Mine only got loud while the new SSD was being formatted earlier today. I’ve been running it for 4 hrs now, downloading while playing a game. I haven’t heard any loud cooling noises. I’m using a horizontal stand. That may also help with air flow
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.As long as you have good air flow, and the ambient temperature is fairly cool you should be fine. I ended up downloading a few games from steam back to back staying below 50c. The compainion app you can download from the wd site can help you keep track of temps, amongst other useful features. If you have any temp issues I'd recommend getting more or better fans. Maybe altering your fan speeds to optimize cooling performance.
