“I want to use this to play movies on my television. The PC has a eject option for external hard drives, but the TV does not. What is the power-down procedures for this drive, other than just cutting the power? I'm concerned about damaging the drive.”

Just be sure it's not in use when you remove it from power and plug it into your pc to do any driver repairs that it may need before booting it back up. I use it to host my media center through my Xbox and that's what I do
