• Yes. If your router supports and has USB port. It worked on my Tplink router.

• As far as I know, that would not be possible unless you have a router that has that capability. I haven't seen routers with a USB port, but they may be out there... One viable option would be to plug this into a pc that can be safely left on, then setting up drive sharing on that computer. This is the path I took personally when a project to convert an old pc into a nas went downhill. Short answer: depends on your router but most likely no...
