“I have a Mac, but have my hard drive partitioned with windows installed on the other side for school purposes, so, I need an external that will read file types from both sides. Is this capable of storing and reading all file types at the at the same time?”

Partition it the same way that your Mac is partitioned. One half Mac, the other Windows.
