Unfortunately, this needs to be reformatted to do anything with Mac OS. You can partition it to work with both but it will need to be reformatted to be able to do so.

You can reformat it using an Apple computer, or with somewhat extra cost buy aftermarket software that will allow you to split the total capacity into 2 parts and format one (with it's own drive letter) and the 2nd also with it's own letter, and format one for Windows, and the other for Apple. Given the relatively low cost I would suggest you buy one dive and use it as is, (Windows) and then a second one later and format it for Apple - or the other way around depending on you're use. They are great for making backups.
