“Can this drive (not any software that comes with it) be used with Windows XP? I just need a backup drive.”

Yes, it can be used exclusively for storage and is compatible with all Microsoft software versions.

I've been using these external drives for 15 years and have never had an issue when used in conjunction with Microsoft software.
