• No Bestbuy will not recover them for free but if its within the one year warranty the manufacturing company will

• I don't know how difficult it is to restore this drive from a failure. Best Buy or WD could better answer that question. As a general rule, however, I keep copies of my key (irreplaceable) files on more than one storage device.
