It'll work without issue in Windows 7. As long as your USB chipset driver works with Windows 7, this drive will work.

I can't answer about the operating system compatibility, but in order to run games without lagging from it, you need a USB3 port. So a computer old enough to have Windows 7 might not have the latest high speed port options.
