Hello WhirlpoolUser, the light does come on during cooking. There is an "add 30 seconds" button to your cook time. To your last question, we cannot guarantee that the colors will be compatible.

All I can tell you is that the light does come on while it cooks. I have never had to turn the light on by adding cooking time.
