“Just installed this and have not used an over the range vent before. I was boiling a pot of water and the fan goes on automatically and I can't turn it off. It stays on way too long and it is loud. Is there no way to control the fan myself?”

Next time you use the range top, turn the fan on low. You'll still have to listen to it, but it on't be automatically stuck on high. There are no other options short of disabling the blower.
