Hi Me, we do not put the stainless steel on the sides because there is more surface area is prone to damage. Plus normally the walls and/or cabinets cover the sides and to remain most cost-efficient for our consumers only the doors are stainless steel.

If the sides were also stainless steel Whirlpool would have to increase the price about another $200.00. I'm sure Whirlpool's market research showed that really wasn't important to the majority of customers. And like usual, majority rules. I personally didn't care about the sides being grey. In fact to me that two tone looks better than all stainless steel.
