Hello, Iglo. The wooden top is not removable. The water usage gallons for HEAVY 7.4 gallons, NORMAL 3.5-7.4 gallons, ECO 2.9 gallons, 1-HR WASH 5.3 gallons, OVERNIGHT 5.2 gallons.
