I have a 1 inch overhang from my counter top. Would this interfere with accessibility to the controls? Would I have to have the door partially open in order to access the controls? Could this interfere with access to the controls during wash cycle? null

The overhang does interfere a little with the view of the buttons when it’s closed, in my opinion. This hasn’t led to any major issues for me. I usually choose the wash cycle while the door is up but not closed, then immediately close it and hit the “start button”. It’s not hard to reach but the wording on the buttons is slightly covered. A mild inconvenience for a dishwasher that i otherwise like. I’ve just gotten into the habit of selecting my wash cycle while I’m swinging it shut.

You make your cycle selections with the door open, push start, and you have 4 second to close it. I think it was designed so you don’t need to see the panel; there’s a little light on the front by the handle that comes on when it’s in use. It looks cool, just stainless steel with a handle, no visible controls. There’s a display on the panel that shows how much time is left on the cycle, but you don’t really need to see it. I suppose you can open the door if you want. The manual tells you how long the cycles are.

Hi BC. The controls of the Whirlpool Dishwasher® are on top of the door so the only way to access the controls is to have the door open. If, for some reason, you need to pause the cycle or add a dish, you are able to open it and the Dishwasher will stop. We hope this helps!

I have the same type whirlpool. I dont understand why there is a timer display on the top if you cant see it. I have been thinking the installer could have lowered the feet so the gap between the controls and the countertop would be large enough to see the numbers without having to open the door. A raised plastic prism would be a simple fix. Tilt the display forward to be visible in that gap. Would look great.
