I've spent hours trying to research and troubleshoot the inner tub light "not working" when the menu setting is set to L1 (On). I'm now 99% positive that this model wasn't designed with an interior light, but there is almost no information I can find anywhere that confirms it. It's not that important to us, regardless of whether there's an inner light on our model, but the inclusion of 6 little words anywhere in the product documentation might have prevented a lot of wasted hours....."This model has no inner light". Hats off to Whirlpool for cutting all the wrong corners in all the wrong places, and for the semi-helpful QuickStart Guide that proudly presents instructions for how to enable the inner tub light on a model that doesn't have one.
