“It says water filter - does this mean you buy a cartridge to soften the water?”

• No remove the filter from the bottom of the dishwasher. Rinse off any buildup & reinstall. To remove turn filter cup 1/4 turn counter clockwise. Be sure to relock the cup.

• No, it has a removable mesh filter that you clean regularly by removing and rinsing out.
