Any owner experience the unit start making humming noise? Sometime it is not as loud, but sometimes, it is very loud. I am not talking about the noise when the unit fill up water for ice, it is almost like a semi high pitch noise that goes on and on. null

Yes!! I recently purchased this refrigerator and sometimes the humming is so loud I can hear it down the hall and in the living room. I've seen several reviews pointing this noise out as well. Seems to be an issue with this model.

Yes, I have noticed this too. The refrigerator uses a hi-tech inverter compressor. This feature varies the speed of the compressor depending how warm the refrigerator is inside. I believe this is normal for this product. 

This refrigerator also has a feature where you can increase the ice production for a 24 hour period by requesting it on the front key pad. When it in this setting the compressor only runs at high speed to increase ice production.

yes I just purchased my Frig 11/20/24 from Best Buy and it is making this annoying noise too. I have a service call for them to come out and check it. I will post here when I hear what the service tech says...

This post - the orig. post was here 7 yrs ago and this Whirlpool 28 cu ft side by side is STILL MAKING this NOISE is sad - the company must think it is ok...

I noticed the louder notice on mine is when the freezer is defrosting.
