- Answer Unknown gauge, but it is quite heavy and well fabricated. It is anything but "tinny." As for it actually being stainless, a magnet will stick to it (but there are various types of stainless steel).

- Answer Shipping weight? Heckifino. The single box with everything may weigh 80 pounds. Two large pieces made it out of the box using one human. Four screws may be removed from the motor while still in the box to free it from a shipping crate in the bottom (lighter). I removed the glass hood from the motor (lighter) with a torx bit before hanging the motor on the wall myself with ease. Have the top two screws already in the wall as per instructions. Glass breaks. Mine didn’t. I was careful to never over tighten the screws. The metal fake chimney isn’t too bad. WVW51UC0FS 30

QuestionLooking at this unit for basement to apartment remodel. soffit over unit will be less than 8 ft so can the lower chimney section be cut down to allow for upper chimney (with perforations for non vented install) to be used without modification?

- Answer Yes. The top part is adjustable and made of a thin metal. I used tin snips to trim the corners of mine to get it to fit tighter to the ceiling.

- Answer They do not come with the hood, but can be ordered from Whirlpool. There is literature that comes with the hood that will give you more information ref the filters.
