• Yes you need a receiver with a monoraul subwoofer speaker output. This will filter low pass signals only to your uni-directional bass source, rendering your floor standing speakers less necessary being that all of your lowest frequency signals are now sent to the subwoofer rather than the large diameter cones of your floorstanding speakers. Now all you need are some small shelf speakers unless you really feel a home theatre surround system is imparitive in which circumstance you would want a couple satellites and a center channel as well.
