I wound up using an InfaRed extender and it works fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Sorry, it is an IR remote, though a fairly sensitive one. Why do I mention this? There are IR repeater systems on the market. You can place a receiver module where you need it and you place the transmitter in the closet with the receiver. Ask at Best Buy. They have had them in the past. I don't know qff-hand of a receiver like the Yamaha that has an RF remote. Too bad. This is a really nice receiver for a low end offering. Sensitive and unusually stable FM front end and THD figures that remind you of higher end systems. We listen to the local classical music FM station day and night here and clean performance is important. You would expect that of Yamaha though I think. Have you considered a window in the closet door, mirrors, or fiber optics? Just brain storming a little, or maybe its only a little breeze. Good luck.
