“The receiver is not working i plug it in and hit the power button the standby light comes on but nothing else happens no noises no clicks just the standby light and when i hit the power button the light gets either brighter or dimmer nothing else”

Try to toggle the A/B Speaker Buttons, receiver could have the speakers turned off. My receiver works great!
