Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Speaker wattage capability and ohm load are tied together. a 16 ohm speaker will only pull half the wattage from the receiver than an 8 ohm speaker. AND a 4 ohm speaker will try to pull twice the wattage from the same receiver. this is why manufactures list a "minimum" ohm load that they do not want you to go below. All this being said, a 16 ohm speaker will not sound as loud as an 8 ohm speaker. a 4 ohm speaker will sound even quieter than the 16 ohm. In the case of a 110 watt amp @ 8 ohms, if your Onkyo speakers are 8 ohms you will be making use of all of the 110 watts. If they are only 16 ohms you will be getting only half of that power. (55 watts)
