I actually got this receiver today, replace another Yamaha rv373, that stopped working. So I brought it home and a pair of Yamaha nsaw390 speakers. Changed the OHMS to 6. It quit playing after about 5 minutes and will not come back on. null

Turn volume level low before you turn on speakers   Make sure no wires are touching (shorted out)

I had a similar situation happen , a 6 ohms and 8 ohms want play a 6 ohms speaker is dominant and cancel out main speakers as in the front spreakers
