“Will this unit play front, rear and center speaker in stereo sound equally? My current JVC only plays rear speakers and center in surround mode and I'm looking to replace it.”

Yes, there is a 5 channel stereo mode that you can select. It is not automatic.

Please try again later.There is a 5 channel stereo mode via the DSP that plays stereo left through front left and surround left and stereo right through front right and surround right and stereo sum (L+R) through front center. 2 channel stereo mode plays stereo left through front left and stereo right through front right. Straight mode plays the channel format according to the incoming signal: two channel stereo will play through front left and right, five channel surround will play through front left, center, and right, and surround left and right. Depending on the incoming signal, not the receiver, sometimes the signal will have five channels, but just left and right and maybe center will have sound. I have one surround disk that is four channel format with front left and right and surround left and right and no center.
