Can I watch TV without surround sound on null

Ben, Assuming you mean watch and hear through your TV, yes you can. It's configurable in the "HDMI Standby Through" menu.

Yes, you can set any input to stereo, mono, virtual surround (2 speakers) etc, etc... So, anytime you select that input it automatically defaults to the last way it was set.
