“I am in the process of building out a sound system for tv and gaming. I am looking to start small and go with this receiver and just a center channel speaker. Is it possible to funnel all sounds through just a center channel for the time being?”

You need the front left and right speaker per instructions I found - VERY Important. The primary channels need a speaker load
