How do I use the tone control on this unit null

In the option's menu go to "Tone Control". Choices: Treble, Bass. You can adjust it in .5 db (decibel) increments from -6.0 db to +6.0 db. It's a personal choice to how you like your music to sound. The majority recommend flat or 0.0 db. Again, it's up to your taste...there is no right or wrong although too high and you might lose some mid-range frequencies.
