Q: QuestionI have an older powered sub woofer without RCA jacks to connect. Previously I've connected as indicated on rear of the sub...running R&L / speaker wire from receiver to panel on sub... then panel on the sub out as indicated to the speakers. Still work?

• A:Answer I had my old Yamaha home theater receiver hooked up the way you describe and I used this method of connection with this new Yamaha RX-V385 and it works just fine.

Q: Questioni havent purchased this receiver yet but with the sony receiver i do have, str-dn1050, i can't seem to get a video or sound from the hmdi port through the receiver. but my ps4 and amazon tv box video and sound is perfect, why not my cable?

• A:Answer Connect the red wire to the white input. It should work just fine. If not you'll probably need a y splitter. I have the klipsch 10/300w and that thing is LOUD! Enjoy!

Q: QuestionI have 5 surround sound speakers built into my ceiling, left front, right front , center and right and left rear. They all have 4 colored wires in individual cable. Can these be connected into this system? If so, how? How many speakers can be included?

• A:Answer I'm no expert but it sounds like you're using the wrong wires. Most speakers only have red and white out/in ports.

I had a previous Yamaha Receiver for 7 & 1/2 years that still was working when I decided to replace it with this new receiver. The main reason that I replaced my old receiver was that the new receiver has Bluetooth built in which allows me to wirelessly stream my music from my I-Phone 12 to the receiver.

Q: QuestionI am doing a projector setup, but I don't have surround sound. I am using a JBL Bar 2.1. I need to run an HDMI to the projector, and I also need to run audio to the soundbar. Am I able to accomplish this? I see the Optical Audio Output labeled in.

• A:Answer Unfortunately, you are correct. The optical is an input for connecting other playback devices (TV, DVD, etc). Hopefully your sound bar offers other alternatives.
