“System advertises 4k UHD / HDR passthrough at 60hz upgradable to 120hz at a later date. I have a PS5 plugged into receiver HDMI1 input with 8k / UHD HDMI cord and getting "HDR not supported in 4k" message on PS5. What gives?”

Im answering my own question in case it's helpful to anyone else. Make sure the Yamaha receiver HDMI input is set to "MODE 1." Make sure your TV E-ARC HDMI input / output is set to "enhanced" mode (Sony TVs) or whatever option enables 4k / 60hz inputs.

Please try again later.I don't know if it will help, but I had trouble with Yamaha connection to my new Vizio tv (4K-8K capable) and I switched to a Rocketfish "Ultra High-speed" HDMI cord (from the tv's HDMI ARC connector to the Yamaha receiver), and it took care of the problem.
