Well it’s either the box or the phone. But why would the dimensions matter it lets you know if it fits your phone. The iPhone 6, 7, 8, and all SE phones will have the same screen size. So if it fits any of those it fits all of them.

I suspect that is, what I would call, the length and width of the box dimensions. The packaging contains a hefty plastic protection around the product to ensure it is delivered to the customers safely. I didn't actually measure ours but if memory serves correctly it was a larger box.
