It is a film screen protector. If you want one to protect from scratches it is fine but if you want drop protection then get a tempered glass screen protector.

Definitely soft I'm told it's dew to the finger print security now being on the main screen

Soft. it is more like rubber and not hard like the glass protector. Honestly I would not recommend it. I am stuck with it now and will be visiting the store every 2 weeks to have it replaced.
