Was recommended these by my best friend, musician, and music major haha. Really own away. Stands toe to toe with the Bose QC 35s my dad has and maybe even surpasses them. The in app equalizer was superb and so many other cool settings. Was extremely skeptical the atmospheric equalizer would even be able to tell my elevation but lo and behold it was dead on when I tried it at 7500 feet at my house in Colorado vs at sea level. It had a great chic design with no branding but cool bronze Sony accents. Great battery life and sound canceling. Not sure I’ll ever be able to fly on a plane without them. Fairly comfortable and great for taking calls as well. Highly recommend.

Exceptional headphones! I use them primarily when we travel, but my wife uses them all the time. We liked them so much that we bought them twice, the first time a year and a half ago, and then again during the sale that coincided with prime day a month ago. So now, we don't need to share when we fly! They sound fantastic, and the sound cancelation is absolutely top notch. You can be sitting right behind the wing, directly behind and aside the engines (the loudest part of the plane due to the travel of sound), and all you'll get is the gentlest hum. When my wife would let me have a turn, it was the biggest and most comforting relief. Cannot recommend these enough for the noise cancelation alone. As far as sound quality, theyre really outstanding in that regard too. The full audio range is nicely calibrated out of the box. I sometimes even use them for watching and television at home if my wife is sitting next to me and shes talking on the telephone. Excellent sound quality. You get the base is great, the dialog comes clear. Features are cool. You can connect to 2 things at once, you can turn the noise cancellation on/off, you can have it so that the noise cancellation automatically turns on/off if you start talking. neat stuff. Easy to pair with devices like most Bluetooth devices. Ive paired with my television, sound system, cell phone, etc. The only thing i couldnt pair it with was my PS5, but thats because the ps5 "doesnt allow for audio bluetooth devices" (per the ps5 notification that pops up. They seem durable enough, unlike the newer versions. The newer versions of these (the xm5 and xm6) have these little thin hinges atop the earcups, and if you go to the headphones subreddit, youll see constant posts of those snapping. These, on the XM4, are wider, less stylized, and seem more durable. Very comfortable. I have sensitive ears, in that my ears get really hot and irritated sometimes, so i need to be carful with what i use/wear (and earbuds give me insane ear ache, so i cant wear those). These headphones have never irritated my ears. Theyre very gentle, soft, and breathable. I also have a rather large head, my hat size is between a 7&3/4 (XXL) and 7&5/8 (XL). For reference, the average male head size is 7&3/8 (L), which means my head is roughly a full inch wider then the typical. Now, you might think that an inch isnt that much of a difference, but it is. Point is, these still fit nicely and do not squeeze my XL/XXL head. As far as why i chose these in particular, i used the review website "RTINGS" to help me narrow it down, and it was a fight between these and the bose quietcomfort. After going to the bestbuy to physically try and listen to both pairs, i liked how these performed just slightly better overall. In conclusion - great headphones. You wont regret going with these.

I had been meaning to pick up a pair of noise canceling headphones for some time and I finally took the plunge. These are light weight, comfortable, easy to use, and most of all deliver tge great sound and noise cancellation I desired. They operate a long time on a charge and tge compact carrying case holds the headphones and all accessories firmly and safely in place. Two thumbs up.

Firstly I bought these earphones so I can pair them to my Sony TV when I'm watching TV late at night (my attempts to he considerate to other members of the house). They paired wonderfully, seamlessly, and didnt have that weird crackling/static noise i was getting when Paired other Bluetooth earbuds. I was impressed with the sound that I use them for listening to music while im working from home. They sound amazing! The bass is nice. The mids and the highes are awesome, too. Its not the punchy bass like my scullcandy earbuds, but there is a reason for that. Earbuds are directly in your ear canal and creates a seal, allowing for all the pressure to be forsed into your ear. These earphones work a bid differently and present the Vibration of the bass, but the pressure from the bass is disbursed around your ear. So, the bass is present, its just not punching your eardrums (its a good thing). These earphones are super light. If it wasnt for the heat that builds up around your ear, you wouldn't be able to tell you have them on. I do have to take them off and let my ears breathe and to bring my body temperature down a bit. I never knew how important of a role our ears played in regulating body temperature. the noice canceling is amazing. It truly blocks out everything. The ambient noice feature works great as well. I turned off the automatic feature for this because if I start singing or clear my throat, it pauses the music to let outside noises in. But, I do like that it pauses the music or video when i take them off and resumes when i put them back on. The battery life? OMG! 30 hours is so much play time that ive done a week without charging them!!! Ive never run out of battery, so I have the freedom of not really worrying about them at all. When I remember to charge them, I do. But, the battery life is so amazing that I can do it whenever i remember to do it. I opted for the silver/putty color, over the black. Black conceals dirt more easily and didn't want to be bothered with that. I like to keep things clean and since these headphones are going over two big holes in my head, I want something thats going to show dirt, so i can get rid of it. They are easier to find in darker lit rooms, which is a plus for me since i have dark leather couches. Dont want to accidentally sit on them and break them. I definitely recommend these. Would I pay full price for them? Probably not. I w9uld wait until they are on sale. Thats what I did and Im glad they were on sale when i decided to buy some headphone.

I’ve been using this headphones since 2 years and my experience has been nothing but great! Sound quality is great even with a Neutral EQ profile. I prefer having a custom EQ to juice out the best performance out of these. Great app with all the important features. Ambience mode works great, Speak-To-Chat feature works really well when at office / at the gym. Noise cancellation on these are on par with the high end headphones. I’ve tried them wearing these on a 30 hour long flight journey 3 times. They do not tire your ears, do not feel heavy, ANC blocks majority of the flight engine noise, flight infotainment adapter comes in handy in older planes, battery life lasted the entire 30 hours with ANC On always! It still had 15% charge left. I have even compared these against its successor XM5. Like majority of the reviews say, XM4 are a great for price headphones, XM5 aren’t much of an upgrade considering it’s $100 more than XM4. Wait for XM6 to upgrade! I also like XM4 foldable design better than XM5.

These are definitely the best wireless headphones I have ever owned. The headphones are very comfortable and well balanced. It may seem weird, but sometimes I forget that I am wearing them. They are adjustable and the ear cups are soft and don't press on my ears. I have worn them until the power drains with no issues. I also love the matte black color. The sound quality is excellent. I am not an audiophile, but these headphones reproduce rich sound. The music I listen to music and can be optimized, and this improved the quality after I went through the simple process. The noise canceling is truly amazing. You can adjust the amount of noise cancellation or use adaptive noise canceling so this feature adapts based on your surroundings. I don't usually take phone calls while wearing headphones, but the few that I have taken have had good quality and the other person has not had any problem understanding me. My one issue with the headphones would be the multipoint Bluetooth pairing. The instructions say that you can pair these headphones with two devices at the same time, but I cannot get this feature to work. If I have them paired between my desktop (or laptop) and my phone they do not work. I keep hearing the "Bluetooth connected" alert, but it seems to immediately drop and about ten seconds later the "Bluetooth connected" alert sounds but no connection. This continues and does not resolve itself. It is like the two devices are competing for dominance. The "chat" feature is a nice addition. You simply begin speaking and the headphones silence the music, and you can carry on a conversation. You can tap the earcup to go back to listening mode. Great for a work environment. Battery life is amazing. I have worn these headphones for hours (4-8) and never drained them. Depending on how much "on time" listening I have over the course of a week, I can usually go over a full week on a single charge. This is more than adequate for me. I also have both DSEE extreme, and the equalizer enabled which drains the battery quicker. Included with the headphones is a nice carrying case with a copper accent zipper pull, an extremely short USB cable for charging, a short audio cable for direct connecting to a device, and an in-flight adapter. I have found that the audio cable is only practical if seated. It is too short if you are doing any kind of movement (I'm 5' 11"). I was able to purchase them on sale at $248.00 plus tax and I believe it was money well spent. If you enjoy music, I recommend spending the extra money and purchasing these headphones.

I ordered these on a pre-black friday sale weeks before the main sales were announced on best buy. I had extensively researched the headphones (and previous generation XM3) for about 10 months prior to pulling the trigger, comparing them to literally everything else in its tranche and also more expensive models. This included audio-technica, bose, sennheiser, bowers & wilson, and bang & olufsen to name a few. I recommend these headphones over the others for several reasons: 1. Sound quality. The sound out of the box was not to my liking, but the beauty of the Sony app is that you can craft the EQ how you want. I was able to find a custom setting that enhances nearly all of the music I listen to. I'm very happy with the high quality sound across the board. Do not buy a NC headphone without the ability to tweak the EQ. Sound quality is a relative matter and you may be unhappy with the out-of-the-box sound if you opt for a cheaper model. 2. Noise canceling. Top-notch with a ton of features allowing for levels of ambient sound to your liking. Adaptive sound control is a huge plus 3. Functionality. Ability to connect to 2 devices simultaneously. Of course more would be great but at least 2 is crucial (which is why I would buy XM4 over XM3). I usually connect to my ipad and iphone and can seamlessly move between both. 4. Comfort. I previously owned a pair of Sennheisers which were very uncomfortable. I would give these XM4's 9/10 in terms of comfort. I will admit that it took me a few weeks to get used to the pressure but in finding the sweet spot (about 5 clicks up on the head band) I am now able to wear them for hours without needing to take them off. 5. Call quality. I've tested these with multiple family members and friends. They have all given these at least 9/10 in terms of call quality in moderate background sound environments. Will the call quality be the best on the market? Probably not, but personally I didn't buy these for calls. Rest assured, you'll be fine. 6. Style. I like the minimal design. They are matte black with a sleek non-offensive look which I actually like more than the Bose. I would say opt for the black over silver (almost a pewter grey) because over time they will show scratches and smudges less. Conclusion. If you're on the fence, take a look a the many reviews on youtube especially the ones comparing models. I highly recommend you buy these over the probably cheaper XM3's (depending on when you view this). The added features are worth spending more, but good news is that these seem to routinely go on sale. Worth every penny for WFH, music lovers, and even calls. Enjoy :)

I am no headphone connoisseur, but from an average person’s POV, I think these headphones are wonderful. Sound quality- great. Noise cancellation- great. Ambient sound- great. Battery life- great. Sound preference customization- very cool. Love how they flatten and fit into a case that is low profile and easier to pack in a bag. They’re comfortable to wear for long periods of time and don’t hurt my ears/head. The controls are easy to learn. Sometimes there is a lag to initially connect (a few seconds), but it doesn’t really bother me. When switching between devices, sometime I have to go through Sonys app to connect instead of just through Bluetooth which can be a bit annoying. The app allows you to set modes for when ambient sound turns on, when noise cancellation turns on, etc which is a really sweet feature. You can customize the settings or turn them off if you don’t want them. There’s a sensor in the left ear cup that detects if they’re on or off and will pause music if they’re off your ears. It will also turn itself off after a period of inactivity if they’re off your head which saves battery. I would purchase these again in a heartbeat.

So...Headphones are what you're looking for? Well, if you have an Android Phone, there really isn't anything to talk about. I don't care what you put up against this Xm4...they all fall. Sound quality is unmatched by anything I have heard in earphones or headphones by all the top brands like Sennheiser, Bose, Master and dynamics, and others. The comfort is better or at the very least equal to anything you have tried. The battery life is better than anything ever made for headphones period. Headphones have Multiple Device support unlike the majority of the headphones and earphones out there. The unit reads your text messages for goodness sake. They are lightweight and feel amazing in the hands or on your head. The Volume power is among the very best I've heard too. And finally at the price of under $300 you can't tell me you can find better.

I purchased these headphones a couple of months ago. I was actually intending to purchase a different pair of Sony over-ear headphones, but I'm so happy that I went with these! The sound quality is phenomenal. The padding on them is very comfortable, and the headphones sit well on my head. I love that you can really enjoy an immersive sound experience. It's great that you can adjust the EQ to your liking through the app. The battery is much better than any other headphones I've owned. They charge quickly and the battery isn't draining when the headphones are off. Connectivity is quick and seamless. It's also great that they come with wires, so you can easily connect them to airplanes without having to purchase anything extra. The case holds everything nicely and provides some decent padding to protect the headphones.

I was lucky to score an amazing deal on them for $199 right after Christmas, but I fully believe they are worth every penny at full price too. An overall good buy. The fit is comfortable and I love the design. At moments I felt that I was a bit bulky but I appreciated that it was lightweight. I really never used the case. Wonderful battery life, I went 4-5 days of regular use before even thinking about charging. Sound quality is stellar, noise cancelling was just ok.
