I purchased this receiver as a companion device for my Sony xbr65 900f. I have the TV running all day and I wanted decent sound from the TV but also inexpensive in case it wears out in a couple of years which is what happened to my previous $1,000+ receiver in this room. I purchased this receiver about 7 weeks ago and have only encountered one problem which I can't explain. I have the receiver connected with HDMI cable to the ARC3 input to the TV. About once a week when I turn on the TV in the morning the TV input selection has changed to the HDMI-1 so I have to get the TV remote out to change back to ARC 3 (normally I use the cable remote for everyday use). Otherwise it was easy to set-up, easy to operate. It synced with my TV and cable remotes automatically. Excellent buy (got it on sale)

This replaced an old 5.1 receiver from another manufacturer. With no other change to the system, there is a great increase in sound quality. Easy to set up and calibrate speakers. Works great with my 4k tv.

I have it paired with Klipsch speakers and the system sounds great. We enjoy having the bluetooth capabilities and being able to connect phone to listen to music. Happy with my purchase.

This receiver was easy to put together, love how easy the speaker calibration worked. Originally bought one for our great room, then got this the wife's office, small size, inexpensive price, excellent results for my needs!

I'm using this receiver with Google Chromecast, Roku, etc. It has plenty of power for the 20x20 room that it is in. I do not have a 4k or 3D TV so cannot comment on those functions. The sound is pleasant and full. The on-screen display is informative. The "auto calibration" was very close and only required minor tweaks to suit my ear. The only thing I found lacking was when you rename the inputs on the receiver, they don't rename in the on-screen display. I would recommend downloading the supplimental manual on the Sony website for help in using some of the cryptic settings. Overall, I am very pleased with this budget receiver.

We had an ONKYO TX-NR656 that was having errors and rebooting so we looked originally to get an Onkyo because we knew it had good basic sound and worked well with our TV, Roku, DVD, and PC. When we arrived it was out of stock in store but this Sony was available and the same price. We figured we would try it and return it for an Onkyo if needed. We were pleasantly surprised that this receiver is more than adequate for our needs and has performed flawless. We also now know that we don't have a short in a speaker wire in the wall, it was just the old receiver. This unit is easy to calibrate and comes with the speaker to do so. It sounds good and even passes sound through the speakers when I connect to my TV with AppleShare or Facebook where my old receiver would just use the TV speakers.

This is a great receiver. Has enough power to make everything sound great and the controls are super easy. Hookup is easy, and the self-calibration is fantastic.

Great receiver. Better sound than the bose 9000 soundbar on my TV. Bass is great from some older speakers. Bestbuy put it on sale the week after I purchased and honored the price match giving me the difference back. Great experience.

Had a Yamaha that started shutting down for a second or two every few minutes and got tired of it, so I tried a different brand. This unit has worked very well and delivers great sound through my 5.1 surround sound speakers. PROS: Easy to set up. Love the fact it Works well with my Lg tv and DIRECTV remotes (when I shut off DIRECTV it shuts down tv and this receiver without having to grab any other remotes). It is intelligent enough to to switch from satellite mode to tv mode when I start streaming from Amazon Prime. Also easily moves from satellite to blu-ray player. CONS: At startup, you have to manually select two choices: First you must choose “watch,” then you must choose “satellite” to begin watching. This is annoying because the sound already works, but is then muted! Also, it’s more trouble to grab the remote and make selections seemingly unnecessarily. Aside from this, I still think this is a great unit and well worth the price!

Good value if you can't spend too much money. Enough power to blast my Klipsch tower speakers but not to their full potential. Good product

I recently upgraded from an older Sony receiver to this one, primarily to take advantage of full HDMI signal handling. I was not disappointed. My only negative comment is apparently when you plug in headphones (into the jack on the front panel), the system is supposed to convert the sound to simple stereo (i.e. what the headphones will need). But in my case I only get the left-right channels of a 5.1 surround sound field. The voices (center channel) are notably absent. I've checked and rechecked, and pretty sure I didn't do anything wrong. It just doesn't work as expected. Oh, well. It's just one feature, and the rest of the receiver is excellent. Definitely recommended.

Purchase this receiver to replace an older Sony receiver I’ve had for 10 years , the receiver is powerful and most what I was looking for was similar to what I had prior , this receiver match up perfect to my current setup with no learning curve due to it was a match to what I had , the receiver has all of the inputs to connect several devices, simple to use and provide a loud distortion sound due to the powerful amp it has , I recommend anyone looking for a great receiver & budget friendly

Does what I need to be: enhance sound quality to epic levels as I watch movies or play my games!!! No buyers remorse here! Yes!!!!!!

So glad I decided on this receiver. The sound is clear and the 4k picture looks fantastic! Easy setup. Can’t beat this Sony receiver for the price...definitely recommend it if you’re on the fence about it.

That is really my only beef. You have room settings, which are really just different amounts of reverb. I suppose that is cool for TV but what’s the use of Bluetooth and radio when you can’t fine tune the tone? Easy set up and plenty of power. The surround sound works great.

I bought this AV receiver as an upgrade to my 10+ year old receiver. I had recently purchased a new TV stand and unfortunately the stand that I had purchased could not fit my old receiver. It was a sign from the audio gods to upgrade! My needs became very specific in terms of physical size of the new receiver. I went to my local BB and came across this receiver. If you’re in a situation similar to mines I would suggest taking a look into this one. It has almost all the bells and whistles to get your foot into the door of 4K home theater entertainment (besides the TV of course). This was a big upgrade as far as power and features compared to my old receiver which did not have Bluetooth or support for 4K. Overall I am pleased with the product and would recommend to anyone who is looking for a small lightweight AV receiver equipped with features to support the modern day home entertainment experience.

Bought to replace older Sony receiver, and it was an open box item. For less than half the retail price, all was included and I got full warranty. Setup was fairly easy. Menu is shown on the TV, so no need to be at the receiver to make changes. Bluetooth is very easy to setup and use. Sound is very clear, and different fields are available. Remote seemed small compared to older unit, but all functions are easy to read and use. It's been a while since I've updated my home surround, but this was a great buy and I can honestly recommend.

I needed a new receiver for my home theater system. And this Sony one was perfect for the job. The price was very reasonable also. All the features were perfect for a above average theater system.

Good price for 5.2 4K receiver. Easy installation, just done in few minutes in our new house which already had speakers and the wires. Just hooked up and played directly from phone with Bluetooth.
