this is the 2nd Sony I've owned my last one lasted 20 yrs and took a beating,This model is just the newer addition,all the bells and whistles,Bluetooth etc..,I was going to buy the yamaha of a similiar price point my sales geek said the Sony was a better receiver and 100$ off the sticker price ,also connects to my yamaha subwoofer which was a must for the Cave,Sounds Awesome!!Thanks Eric S

I have a 550 in my living room and loved that one. I got a great open box deal on the 590 and its works flawlessly, plenty of power and the built in bluetooth is awesome with Alexa. Highly recommend this and any other sony product, cant beat the quality and performance for the money!

Was needing just something entry level into 4k and scored this as a open box item and saved a good chunk of money. Awesome reciever with no complaints. But just for a heads up youll need a active subwoofer (one with its own power source). Other than that everytbing else was a breeze!

Very nice 5.2 receiver. very easy to set up and use. the sound quality is awesome and handshakes very nicely with my sony tv. I was looking for something simple and not too complicated like the pioneer i used to have and this is a great option. I had some issues with the video and audio not syncing properly which is mostly fixed by switching the tv to game mode.

We purchased this product to upgrade our surround sound system for our theater room. We need one with additional HDMI hookups so we can stream. The sound quality and performance is great. However, one thing I didn't think of... is my existing speakers. It connected to our smaller speakers, but we could not get sound off our subwoofer. It wasn't compatible. We now need to get a new subwoofer.

Excellent home receiver for the new buyer. Easy to use, plenty of power.

My former AV receiver was at least 20 years old and it finally died. No sound anymore. After checking online for a possible replacement, there were 2 receivers that fit my bill. The Sony was a few tenths of a percentage point better than the other receiver. I was able to pick it up a couple of days later at the closest Best Buy store. So far after setting it up which was relatively easy, it has worked great.

It was easy to setup and has several back connectors to connect devices. We have a projector, roku, and antenna converter connected to it. It also has radio reception. We have 4 speakers connected to it. Amazin surround sound.

Hooked this up to our 65" Bravia using sync. Super easy to control both from the same remote. Running two Sony floors speakers, a Sony center channel, and Sony subwoofer through it and it sounds night and day better than our old receiver. Plenty of inputs to meet your needs and built it Bluetooth is very handy. Those looking for AM radio ... Look elsewhere. Not a feature on this model.

I had a high end Onkyo receiver for years in our living room and could never get the thing to coordinate with my surround system. I decided to move the system to my bedroom after purchasing a 4K Ultra HD TV for the room. AGAIN this high end receiver just couldn't manage to coordinate correctly and required way too much adjustment and fussing. I lost my temper and smashed the thing to BITS!!!! I went to find a mid level receiver and found this one at BEST BUY for a very reasonable price. They shipped it next day for free. I like to buy from Best Buy rather than Amazon and the pricing and service are as good if not better than the Mega site. I use this receiver every day and it is awesome. A little overkill for my small room but, WOW, you wanna talk being immersed in sound that you can feel!!! This thing fits the bill. If I had one complaint, the receiver makes a clunk sound when turned on and off. When you want to see and hear and hold an item before buying it and actually talk to a knowledgeable PERSON that can guide you to a purchase that fits your needs, go to Best Buy or give them a call. Try that at Amazon. Heck, try to even reach a human being at Amazon!!! Try Best Buy first for all of your electronics.

This receiver would have gotten a full 5 stars, except that for whatever reason, it DOES NOT give off the same or better sound than my old non-4k receiver did. Specifically the center speaker. Worked just fine with the old receiver but ...ok well it does work, but the sound is soooo trebley! I know the center speaker is where all your spoken dialogue usually comes through for the most part, but there is a noticable difference now. It sounds like the audio is coming out of an older smart phone. I've messed around with both the settings and the connection, nothing seems "off." And it would cost $130 to have geek squad come out and look because they consider it an installation. But yeah aside from that it's a great receiver. It has an audio option, Front Surround, simulates surround sound using only the front left and right speakers (and sub). That's what i use due to the center speaker issue.

Good output. Easy to set up. Controls are easily learned. Sound system sounds good with more than enough power. If this product lasts a long time without problems I would increase the rating to a 5 star

I bought the Sony receiver, I love the sound when I'm watching movies on TV plus music comes in loud & clear, It was very easy to hook up, I have always purchased Sony & my go to store is always Best Buy.

Very easy to set up. In addition to 4 HDMI inputs, the ARC HDMI is very convenient to get the audio output of TV. The only thing I would like to have in this low priced A/V receiver but it does not have is USB input.

This is an excellent entry-level receiver/amp for a basic home system, and it works especially well when the other components (TV, DVD/Blu Ray player, etc.) are also manufactured by Sony.

My 30 year old receiver went to the happy audio heaven a few weeks ago. I went online and searched for a replacement. There were newer models, better models, and certainly more expensive models out there. However, I settled on the best model on a budget model… it is Great! And I am happy; no regrets about my purchase.

Great receiver where you just need a solid 5 Chan setup

This Sony surround system outperforms the Pioneer it replaced. It was as simple as hooking up all connections and using the included microphone to calibrate the output levels for each speaker. Super simple to use and it sounds so much better than the Pioneer receiver I just threw away. I know it's 2018 but it's great for the size room we have.

For sub $200, I don’t expect much. The receiver works well. Auto setup gets your settings close to where they need to be. Easily powers my Klipsch towers, center, and bookshelf surrounds. The only annoying quirk I’ve found is that on every power up, the input is set to TV. I don’t have anything in that input. Minor inconvenience, but annoying nonetheless. But like I said, for the price I won’t complain too much.
