This receiver has filled its requested job adequately. A decent value at a decent price. Not the most user friendly at times, but luckily I'm a "techy" person and don't have issues myself, but I can see others struggling with it at times. Good for basic home use going beyond soundbars, but not as high end for the upper crowd.

Recommended for use in a 5.1 surround setup for home theater rather than an audio editing setup.

Best budget unit on the market. Wanted something to play music and movies on and was impressed with the sound. Sounds as good if not better than units that cost twice as much.

This device produces awesome sound. Really impressed when we wonder if bird chirps are outside. The room rumbles with subwoofer and comes alive placing you in the midst of the scene.

What can I say affordable great sounds quality love the Bluetooth

Great receiver for listening to tunes and surround. I’m sure that if you spend 3 or 4x the price you will get more power and features but my disco days are over. Actually I’m a little young for disco and I always hated it growing to adolescences in the 80s, but you get the idea.

Easy set-up, lots of performance in a small package. Updated a 15 year-old Yamaha because I needed HDMI inputs and outputs for my new TV. I don't see the point in paying anymore for the bells and whistles in the higher priced Sony receivers. Integrates nicely with my Bravia.

Easy, simple, Bluetooth connection for streaming audio. Drives my Klipsch floorstanding speakers and subwoofer very well at $250 black Friday special very happy with this value-based purchase.

I bought this amplifier for 2 reasons. One was the price and two for its size. There was a price drop on this item and I couldn't resist it because I needed a 5.1 surround system to neatly fit in my bookcase. It's got Bluetooth too! I'm having problems with it hooking up to my Sony bluray DVD player though.

I thought the Sony 725 AV home surround sound receiver 5.2 was an excellent buy for the money it did everything I wanted it to the sound was excellent the sound coming out of it through my Sony disc player was excellent watching movies was a real Joy it was very easy to hook up no real mysteries to hook up and a pretty simplistic operation anyone looking for a reasonably priced surround sound receiver should look into this I do not think you will be disappointed

Perfect for non home theater purpose. Used it in an open space and connected to Polk in wall speakers. Works well.

We needed to move up to a receiver with ARC HMDI so we picked this as an excellent choice for a reasonable price. Very pleased with everything so far. It was easy to set up and has worked flawlessly.

I needed to upgrade my receiver to one with HDCP 2.2 ports. My old receiver was Sony so I was sticking with that brand (because I like my old one). Unfortunately I was stuck in wonderland where I either purchased this "budget" receiver with only 4 HDMI ports, or spend several hundred dollars for the high end model with 7 ports but included a bunch of additional features I don't need. I opted with making my AV system work with the 4 ports, although I'm already missing the plug in play of a front HDMI port. Not an absolute dealbreaker, but it bothers me. My other big complaint is that you cannot rename the inputs, this was a surprise and as silly as it may sound, I probably would have upgraded to the more expensive model had I known (this along with # of ports). I can never remember if my PS4 Pro is plugged into the SA-CD port or GAME port. Sure, I can memorize it, but seriously, how difficult would it have been to give me the option to rename the inputs!?! All in all, if you have a 5.1 setup and need HDCP 2.2 ports for your 4K content, this is a great midlevel option. While I don't think it's quite fair to call it a basic receiver (there are more budget friendly models) compared to other high end receivers it is a basic receiver but sometimes that's all you need.

I wanted a simple receiver with multiple HDMI inputs and this one fits the bill. I have a home theater and my goal was to be able to have surround sound using Amazon Prime. This receiver was fairly easy to set-up and calibrate using the included microphone. I love the fact that I no longer have to use different remotes when switching to Amazon Prime audio.

Simple and fast to set up. Everything is easily marked on the back of the receiver so it's easy to know where what cables go. When you add another set of speakers though, you have to do the set up process where you plug in the microphone.

This unit is very versatile. It has connections for everything you need. A nice feature is front speakers surround sound. All you need is two speakers for theater surround sound. Works great with my smart tv and my old turn table. My turn table needed a preamp but it connects well with the receiver.
