Setup was easy although the mic setup for surround sound took me a few minutes to get through the menus to choose the right speaker setup. The sound has been great (we have typical 5 speakers JBL with a Klipsch 10" sub) and movies as well as music has been great through this unit. No issues so far and I like the simplicity of it. I would recommend this unit for anyone looking on a budget for sure.

Fairly simple user interface and a little under whelming. However it is only an entry level 7.2/5.1.2 receiver. That said for the price it's very capable and covers all the basics. Using it on Klipsch fronts and center with Insignia built-in wall surround and rears. Volume @ 75% sets my door vibration sensor off. This has to be one of the best starting point receivers for a new build.

When I got it home, unpacked the box and quickly got the wires in their right spot, and slots I was shocked to see the advancements in the few short years I had my other Sony Receiver. I was thrilled on the advancements that has taken place in the few years of my old,,oops, former receiver. Sony has proved again, they make a dang great product at affordable prices. Quality top drawer, prices to my lever,,,even better if your lucky to buy this unit at a sale price.

Great amp, horrible instructions

Great sound, looks good, and supports HDMI 4K. Tons of hookups provide for a lot of options too. However....the instructions that come with this unit stink. For instance, if you want to just turn on the TV and not run through the amp, there are no published instructions for this..Lyon are basically on your own to figure it out. I finally did, but it took several days. Other than that, it’s a nice piece of hardware that will do everything you want except drain your wallet.

Excellent home theater receiver for the money

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was debating which receiver to get and it was a hard choice as there is many models and different brands to choose from but gave this one a shot since the price was right and it came with everything needed like Dolby atmos, hdmi, 7.2 channels, good wattage etc. It pushes my Polk audio speakers very well and they are not easy to push as they can take alot of wattage but this receiver sounds super nice with them. Easy on screen management and setup as well.

My Polk Audio speakers translate the sound this unit makes wonderfully. Granted, it is not the best audio equipment but, bang for buck, it is outstanding! I have it set up with 5.1 speaker configuration which gives you a host of speaker setups controlled by a push of a remote control button with lots of power to spare.

I've had one issue with it since I got it that I haven't been able to solve. The receiver will pop up a screen every time I turn it on to select the input. I want it to just go to the input that was last used, and not require me to get the remote to select the input that it's already on. Other than that, it's a solid unit that can pump out the noise.

The unit is all I would need for my theater room. I hooked up 2 pairs bose 901 series 6 speakers for the mains and the surrounds. Jbl control 5's handles the center channel and the rear hight channels. 1 mtx sw12 subwoofer for the bass. Sound is clean when streaming movies and 4k uhd disc's. Good purchase. Very happy. I just need one more mtx sw12 to make it complete.

Nice upgrade for the 4K Smart TV age

This was an upgrade to accompany a new 65" Sony Smart TV for the media room. Replaced the similar model receiver that was still running strong after 13 years of service but lacking the sound and video upgrades as well as blue tooth connectivity. The sound quality improvement, especially of dialogue was noticeable immediately. Sale price at Best Buy as well as almost instantaneous in-store pick up notification were greatly appreciated and are consistent with outstanding customer service features of the Frisco, TX store. Thank you Sony. Thank you Best Buy!
