Honest review here. The Astros are amazing when working. However, not just myself but numerous people on YouTube have had the same issue with them disconnecting from my system and having to troubleshoot to get them to connect again. For the what the headset is worth as far as price versus these issues occurring every time, I would say it is not worth the purchase. A headset this expensive should not have to be this tedious. Also, in case a tech is reading this, I have my headset updated on my pc and have done all the troubleshooting possible. Still having the same issue.

The Astro A50 Gen4 PS4 wireless headset has addressed my issues/complaints from the same model Gen3. They decided to go with a 2.4 wireless frequency this time, which does not have the frequent audio interference and dropouts that the Gen3 had. Audio is outstanding and the balance of game and voice chat is simple to control. They also addressed some base station design issues. The headset is easy to place in the charger to deliver a flawless charge every time (Gen3 were hard to seat in the base and often would not make a good charge connection). The headset is easily the most comfortable on the market, however my ears can get a bit warm and sweaty after wearing them for a while. I don't remember this being the case with my Gen3. The other minor complaint I have is that they can be a bit slippery to put on and take off. The plastic is very smooth and could have used a little texture. The headset has a quality build, but I think the Gen3 model was a bit more premium. It's an expensive headset for sure... but if you game a lot then do your ears a favor and try this headset.

Love the headset. Price is a little steep so whait for a sale. Really comfortable to wear and long battery life which displays on the base so you always know how much battery life you have left. Easy setup and great sound of course

Have been using this headset for about 7 months now on PS5. Overall i would say the quality of this headset is pretty good. The audio quality is fantastic and adjusting the overall audio as well as between chat and game is very easy. I havent ever been fidiling with the volume for more than a few seconds to get the perfect sound. The actual quality of the audio is very good as well, it is by far the best sounding headset i have used (I have used the Steel Series arctis 7, Sony Golds, and four seperate Turtle Beach Stealths over the years). The headset is a bit bulky and much heavier than some of my previous headsets, but i havent ever had a problem with it, but i could see people with smaller heads having some issues with this. As for my cons which bring it down a star; It is a pain to charge this headset and play at the same time as the charging port is very loose and any minor head turn would unplug it, so you can only charge it when it is not in use. The charging station can also be quite a pain as it wont always lock into the correct spot, so sometimes i end up fidiling with it for far longer than i should. Also, i dont know if i need to mess with some settings on PSN or not, but the headset does not charge when the PS is in restmode, only when the console is fully on which is kinda annoying. Lastly, the build quality feels kinda cheap, especially for the price and the weight. Because of the weight i would be afriad to drop it from any distance as there is so much plastic in this headset. Overall, the headset provides quality and convenient audio in a very comfortable way. I do feel the positives here outweigh the negatives, but with that being said i would definitely look around and make sure this is the perfect headset for you, because there probably are higher quality headsets out there for cheaper.

I love these. I've gone back every time. But the software is just trash and I'm constantly having to readjust or set my settings back up because something changes them. I've done all the troubleshooting I could find on Astro and the software just sucks. Otherwise very comfortable and good sound quality(when it works)

Overall the quality of the astros is over the top. Found them comfortable and easy to adjust. The battery does last longer compared to to the previous Gen. The Mic on the other hand is booty. You’re going to have to play with the mic settings to make yourself sound better. They make your voice sound muffled but it is fixable. The base station is also smaller which is a plus.

These headphones look really cool. They are compatible with the ps5 and it does sound good. However, the current mod kits are not soundproof so you can hear things outside the headset. They are very soft and so far enjoying them.

I have three of these. I bought one for my dad, one for my kid and one for me. The one I bought originally, which is the one for my dad, was the previous model. The range is excellent. I can move around the house and only start having issues when I'm at the far end of the house and downstairs. The dials and switches, once you get use to the location are easy to access, if needed. The mic is flexible and works great. When you flip up the mic past a certain point, it mutes the mic, regardless of which app you use. I really like that feature. The free software, which you download from there site, allows you to "tune" the audio. It also has three presets, which you can cycle through, using the button on the headset. The sound quality is really good, but not great. It's a bit muddy, even with the lower frequencies dialed down on the EQ, in the software. I use it mainly for games, online meetings and VR. I use a different headset for music and watching movies.

Amazing sound quality is unmatched even when FPS gaming and 3D sound is important. The build quality is tough and the adjustment bars allow the earpieces freely flow. A good move as they will never break by force. Battery life is good enough to where I can leave it off the charger for multiple gaming sessions before needing to be docked. The downside. The docking requires the headset to charge in one direction because of the microphone piece. The metal docking connections a small and sometimes hard to make a connection if you have a larger head due to there not being enough weight towards the bottom of the headset. You can plug the headset into the docking station to charge via usb which solves this problem and is a big win when your gaming and your wireless headset dies. I leave this at 5 stars because

A50s are like the Cadillacs of headsets, they are super comfortable, battery life has been improved over previous generations, atmos sounds amazing, almost as good as my Sonos sound bar, the only thing I don’t like is the wire for the base is too short so if you don’t have the space on your entertainment center it might be challenging but despite that this headset is great, if you got the extra cash you can’t go wrong with them.

Best headsets in the game. Battery has a good life. Sound is magnificent and the range is amazing I don’t have to worry about any cable getting in my way when using the computer. I’d recommend this to anyone that is tired of not being remote while using the computer.

100% Not Worth it for PS5

PLEASE READ So I have been using Astro's for gaming for as long as I can remember. I bought my A40 headset along with my PS4 when the console came out and I still use them to this day, I love them. I just bought the Gen 4 A50's for my PS5 expecting to have the same experience and I was massively disappointed. Do not believe the packaging at all, they were not designed for the PS5, they were designed for the PS4 so in order for them to "work" on the PS5 you need to buy an adapter that will run you an additional $40. After I got the mess of cables and adapters connected, (you have to use all USB ports by the way for this to "work" so no room for USB external drives) I turned them on, the games sound great, music sounds great, mic sounds great, everything I would expect out of Astro. I go to put my PS5 into rest mode, and the charging dock shuts off. Apparently there is a known issue that is very much so not spoken about where the USB ports on the playstation are not powered enough to keep the charging dock powered on in rest mode, completely defeating the purpose of having a wireless headset with a charging dock, and you can't just plug the power into a wall socket because it has to run through the console because the data for the headset is also run through the USB. I tried everything, changing power save settings on the console, updating the software for the headset online, doing a hard reset on the headset... unplugging and plugging it back in...nothing. The headset is simply not made for this console and Astro simply tried to come up with some cheap fix that would make them work which failed. Don't get me wrong the headset itself is absolutely amazing and if the absolute nightmare of cables and setting changes and the fact that the dock does not work at all wasn't an issue I would keep them, Im disappointed. Moral of the story the headset is 100% NOT compatible with the PS5 unless you want to go out and mess with a bunch of wires and adapters and extra third party cable splitters which is not the point of a WIRELESS HEADSET on top of the fact that THE CHARGING DOCK DOES NOT WORK WITH THE PS5..... I have owned them for less than 48 hours and I plan on returning them as soon as possible.

Just like Cap in End Game (SPOILERS?), the updated A50 headset is worth of the cost. My puppy recently decided to try out my old A40 TR headset and forced my hand (corgis aren't as innocent as they seem!). So begrudingly I spent the $300 after reading plenty of reviews on the revised A50 headset and I can honestly say I'm glad I did. For one, upgrading to a wireless headset is so convenient. Example: last night I had Spiderverse playing on my second monitor while I worked on the other and I was able to walk into the kitchen for a drink without having to pause the movie. On top of that, having a headset mount without cables is such a space saver which leads to a cleaner, sleeker desktop space. As for gaming, the sound is crystal clear, the mic works exactly as advertised and it fits comfortably for long periods of time. If this isn't in your budget, no shame there. However, if you can afford this headset, you won't regret it.

I have just purchased this headset to use with my PS5 I just purchased. I have only used them for a couple days but can already tell how great they will be. Super comfortable and feels great on the head. They aren’t too heavy and seem like they are very durable. The charging stand that comes with is great as well, gives you somewhere safe to put them while not in use and they charge at the same time. They’re a little more than I wanted to spend but defiantly not mad about the purchase.

Astros have been my go-to headphones for years and years. SUPER comfy and the Dolby Atmos is amazing. Great battery life as well. The only complaint I have is due to the nature of wireless headphones, if you’re in an apartment or have a lot of different device going on in your house, you can catch interference sometimes.

My only complaint is that it's such a pain to update the headset. I haven't found a way to update it from my console, so i have to connect it to a pc, and then fumble around some more with the dock to ensure its updated properly. Otherwise i love this headset, great sound, comfortable to wear for hours, and durable.
