Lots of options for numerous peripherals. Also props up the back edge of the computer to provide increased airflow under the computer. My only complaint is that the salesperson did not explain to me that there are two versions of this unit: one with a power adaptor, and one without. He sold me the one without the power adaptor, which leaves me wondering if I'll ever run into issues of insufficient power at some point in the future. If you don't have overwhelming power needs, I'd say this is a good unit to buy.

Hello, if your computer came with a USB-C power brick, you can connect the brick to the power-in port on the Dock. However, we also sell the JUP22090 to go with the JCD543 device. Thank you for your review. j5create

Great docking station, no issues what so ever. I just wish the connecting cable was a little bit longer and one or two more USA-A ports and replace the display port with another HDMI port, other wise good station.

Good dock but has its caveats

Very easy to set up, only had to download the drivers to allow it to work with my laptop. Straight forward. I thought I had issues with it but it turns out that it was most likely incompatibilities with a Lenovo X1 Carbon as the next dock I received was Lenovo branded and I still had the same issue. I'm docking off a star due to there not being an inclusion of a power supply. There is a version of this dock that does include the power supply but you cannot find that in stores which is unfortunately. But what this means is, everything will have to be powered by your current power supply and in my case was not enough to power all my devices enough.

      Hello,
We appreciate you taking your time to post your review. We are happy to hear that the docking station was easy to setup. The dock itself does not require a power adapter. The power port on the dock is only for pass through power to charge your laptop.
      Have a good day,

For the average user: The product works as expected. It takes your laptop display and allows up to 3 connections. Item to note before purchasing: to get up to 3 monitors, ensure you have either an HDMI OR DisplayPort, an HDMI, and a VGA monitor. Due to the limitations of USB-C, you can only have up to 2 digital signals. All-in-all, a great addition to a mobile home office where you want one device to take with you and to sit down with. I would enjoy it if it weren't for a few things... FOR MOBILE GAMERS: Beware this adapter does not use your laptop's GPU. The monitors are also capped at 30Hz so there is noticeable tearing. A few annoyances: May just be my unit and my setup, but the colors and quality just isn't there. I can see noticeable blurring on regular text that would otherwise not be obstructed. One of the USB ports on the back of my model does not supply enough power for all three ports to be used. This may be because I am not using the USB-C In port due to the fact that my laptop does not support USB-C for charging. Conclusion: For me, this will, unfortunately, be going back. This has nothing to do with the product itself or the quality of the build. It it only because of the previous two items that I mentioned. For my application, this device is limited due to the technology not good enough. The price is a deal for what it is actually doing, which is a lot. It is easy to use as long as you follow the manual. My setup for reference: 2 Omen 27i Monitors both HDMI Razer Blade 15 late 2019

OVERALL: Gives me the versatility to connect to all my external devices. It's amazing that you can get so much connected to one Thunderbolt port. I've only used it with one external monitor b/c that is all my M1 MacBook will support. INSTALL: Several steps to get it installed (it's not just "plug-n-play"). I had to call the company's tech support* for help. But after that, it has worked well. TECH SUPPORT: One of the best tech support experiences I have ever had! The guy was American and was easy to understand. He explained things like he was a friend over for a cookout (personable, friendly, easy to follow). FEEL/PORTABILITY: Lightweight, but sturdy. Cord stores inside the unit, but extends 10"+ out the end, even more from the center. I find it is easy to transport in my backpack. The rubberized pad keeps laptop from slipping. I like the slight tilt it gives to the computer, but the cord is long enough that you can easily position the dock behind the computer. CAVEATS: * Every port I have used has worked (HDMI, Thunderbolt, USB, card reader, Ethernet), but sometimes it has taken a few tries (card reader; HDMI). I have not tried the headphone, DVI or VGA ports. * Sometimes I have to unplug the HDMI and replug it in, but that could be the fault of my old monitor. * Does not provide power for Apple SuperDrive. For that you have to plug the Superdrive directly into the computer.

I really wanted to give this a 5 star rating. It has EVERYTHING I want and need out of a docking station and more. A variety of ports, lightweight, sleek and to support 3 screens! So where’s that missing star? Well, for some reason, it tends to intermittently freeze. By that I mean, the mouse cursor and everything just locks up on one of the screens. At first I thought it was my laptop, but then I tried it on my wife’s laptop and behold, the same glitch. Other than that, this thing is highly versatile. You can even modify which side the USB-c connection comes out of which is handy for my Dell laptop (USB-C connects on the left) and my wife’s HP laptop (connects on the right).

RonnieRudeBoy, I appreciate you reviewing the JCD543. In regards to the lock you are experiencing, this could be due to radio frequency interference, also known as Leaky Waves. In this case, we suggest using a wired/Bluetooth mouse. If the issue remains, please reach out to our support team and a rep will be more than happy to lend a helping hand, we will narrow down the issue and offer solutions.

This unit was perfect for my new laptop, as a hardware accessible utility expansion for my office. Be sure to download the drivers off the website to enable complete functioning. Otherwise, its pretty basic as a bridge. Only 4 stars, because I haven't been able to use all the functions/features now available.

It seems like a well-made product but did provide more the 1 monitor when connected to my Macbook Pro M1 Laptop. Not because this product is at fault but because the M1 processor does not support more than one monitor over the USB-C Thunderbolt 3 protocol. You need to use a non-Thunderbolt product with the M1 Macbook pro to go to 3+ monitors with the M1 processor-based Macbook Pro series. j5create driver needs to be installed.

I have a Dynabook laptop and had trouble finding an affordable docking station. This one works great, except I cannot get my internet to come through it. It might be on my end, I just haven't been able to troubleshoot correctly. The USB C connection is solid. The one I bought before this I had to return because the cable wasn't seated in the USB slot very well and would cause my docking station to come loose. This one doesn't have that issue. I love all the ports this one has for USB, HDMI, etc.

The docking station is easy to setup and is designed so the PC can sit on top of it. At first it had an issue with causing 1 HDMI display to freeze, but that has not happened for a while. It can have issues with sizing windows when (1) moving from a smaller display (like a laptop) to a larger display or (2) when opening new apps like Word. This is not a show stopper -- it requires resizing windows. I use a Lenovo docking station with a Lenovo laptop (supplied by my employer) and it has none of these issues. Lenovos are more expnsive (~$180 and up). For $100 the j5created docking station is a reasonable value.

Purchased it to solve for a need for two monitors for work. However, it doesn't work via VM connection (I use Horizon Omnissa Client) on a Dell laptop. There was a USB port driver error I couldn't resolve and I couldn't get the displays to work despite having the correct drivers installed for them. I did have a 100 watt USB C power supply and my laptop does have the power display USB C port. When you search for solutions, you can't find any regarding connecting to a VM. Had to return it and found a Targus that works.

Virtual desktop environments like Horizon/Omnissa can sometimes restrict external display functionality or driver communication, which may cause the type of issue you described. j5create
