Very specific kind of USB-C port

But it’s so specific to a certain kind it didn’t work for what I needed but everything else worked fine. The size is more for bigger laptops. I had a 13 inch. It felt like decent quality. I’ve learned twenty dollars more can get me multiple usb-c thunderbolt 3 and/or 4ports at OWC.

The JCD543 needs to plug into a USB-C port that supports display port alternate mode. Thunderbolt 3 ports do support display port alternate mode. I am sorry that the hub did not suit your needs.

I was able to find this really nice one at Best Buy. It has so many ports that can be used. I have yet to have a problem with it having a shortage unlike others. I do wish the cord was a tad bit longer.

Problem is it requires a 100w USB c charger which is not just any old USB c charger. J5create sells a adapter charger for this and it should have been included.

I have a lenovo and a dell . I downloaded the drivers and each laptop would only detect the one monitor. I went on forums talked to tech friends and no one could figure out why it wouldnt work with either of my laptops and dual monitors. I have relatively new laptops and my monitors are only 2 years old. I have concluded this is defective and I am returning it today. Not worth the money or the hassle.

It's hard to get installed for older laptops. Use only with laptops that have the USB-C port. When you install an adaptor, you will have to use the HDMI port on the laptop and one on the Docking station for older laptops

Posted .Generally, adapters emit some heat as a normal part of its operation, especially if the USB-C pass-through charging, Ethernet and/or all ports on the hub are utilized. Please note that hotter operating temperatures can be expected..

A little expensive but don’t regret the purchase. Very handy for those days I work from home and can use dual monitors from my laptop.

Probably will need an apple adapter to make this work. Otherwise the software download was seamless and I am up and running. The device does get warm but I believe this is normal with most docking stations. So far I am not disappointed.

I am happy that you are not disappointed with the docking station. You are correct that docking stations will generate some heat, so this is to be expected. Regarding the dock not being able to connect to your older monitor: if your older monitor does have a VGA port it should work with the dock. If this is the case with your monitor, you can save yourself a trip and some money by contacting our support team for assistance. Didn't work with older laptop

I did reach out to J5Create who were very helpful and they got me set up with the right product for my laptop to add 2 monitors. So there service is excellent.

Get the power adapter!

There are no instructions in the box. You have to download a driver in order for the Ethernet feature to work on this device, which is indicated by a sticker on the cord (STOP need to download driver before using). However, after doing a Google Search for the driver I was greeted by a HUGE popup on j5create Website that states: Attention macOS® 11 Big Sur users: j5create USB™ Display and USB™ Ethernet adapters are not currently compatible with macOS® Big Sur 11. To avoid loss of functionality with the j5create USB™ Display and USB™ Ethernet adapters, we advise all Mac® users to delay updating to macOS® Big Sur 11. Very disappointing. Big Sur was released, 11/12/2020. For a device that costs $110 I would expect it to work as intended. I returned the device.

We appreciate your feedback and what you are stating is true. As of today 01/05/2021 we do not have drivers for this docking station that are compatible with MacOS Big Sur. We are currently working on them, but due to the significant changes with the operating system there has been a delay. We will post an announcement on the j5create website once we release the drivers. The patience from our customers is greatly appreciated.

One Plug N Go!
