I found my microwave turning itself on and off all by it itself. It runs for 4 or 5 minutes, then turns off for a few seconds and then turns back on. Control panel is totally unresponsive. Unplugging it and plugging it back in does nothing, once plugged in it starts running again. Opening the door turns it off but once the door is closed it starts running without any buttons being pushed. This leads me to believe that something on the main board, possibly a relay, has failed. This microwave is about 18 months old so out of warranty by 6 months. The worst thing is this could have happened while I was away as I am frequently out of town. If I was gone it could have been cycling on and off possibly creating a fire hazard. First time I have heard of a appliance doing this. This replaced a GE that I had for over 10 years. Should have a bought a name brand.

It has some nice features like 30 Seconds cooking 1, 2, 3 ,4 minute cooking. I used to have a Sharp Microwave and it had much much better defrosting capabilities. This Insigia is a 1000 Wat microwave and does not seem to be as strong as my old one. I do like it, but I had limited funds so I purchased this one. It is NOT a bad microwave. I have owned this for two months.
