Don’t expect too much from this player. It’s not horrible, plays movies well and in great quality. However, it’s smart features could use a bit of work. Sometimes it’ll lag/drop WiFi when you click too fast while on Netflix or YouTube. It also sometimes plays those videos in lower quality (720p or 480p). But like I said this ONLY happens with the smart features. When watching regular DVD/Ultra & Blu-Ray movies, this thing works wonders.

I had a sony blu ray player before this one that was glitching and freezing here and there. I bought this after many had recommended it online. When I first unboxed I was a little skeptical as the player is on the small side and quite light. But after hooking it up and playing with the settings, this thing is amazing! Rock solid performance and has never froze on me since setting it up. I hope to get many years of movies out of this!

I debated between this and the Sony. They were the same price during black friday week. The Sony has dolby vision, but the panasonic has a really nice processor. I went with the panasonic hoping it will upscale everything a little better. I'm sure I'll need another 4k player down the road (this is my first one) and I could get a dolby vision capable one then (if the technology becomes more of the norm).

Love the clarity and detail this player provides. However, this is the second one we've had. Took the first one back because of this same issue. When you have a long DVD movie in, after about 30+ minutes, it will just shut off. No reason. It just shuts off. The weird part is, the sound is still going but no picture. You have to take the time to get it to actually shut it down, then have to coaxed it to turn back on. Now, once you can get all this to happen, it's fine for the rest of the movie. Watched a 3 hour LOTR movie, all of them(6). Each movie, after about 30 to 45 minutes, they all were shut down, visually. Sound still going. We still cannot figure out why this happens. When watching a TV series on DVD, it never happens as they are usually an hour or less long. But a long movie, 30-45 minutes, you can count on it. It was very frustrating but we just go thru the motions and get it back on and we know it's good to go. If anyone can shed some insight on why this happens, we'd love to know.

I was looking to upgrade our Blu-ray player and sound in the living room to make the most out of our Sony 4K TV. I ended up going with this Panasonic 4K player because it met my price point, supports the audio codecs I wanted (Atmos/DTS, etc). It works great with the Vizio M-Series soundbar. Plus it supports 3D if you have a 3D capable TV.

Holy cow this player is amazing!! I’m using this with my Epson 5040ub and this player made my projector feel upgraded! I had been using an Xbox one s as my 4k disc player but this Panasonic ub420 is on another level holy cow! Had been tempted to get the 820 but I don’t have Dolby vision on projector so passed on that.

Easy setup, love picture. No problems what so ever!!

I purchased this Panasonic "Streaming" 4K Ultra HD Hi-Res Audio DVD/CD/3D Wi-Fi Built-In Blu-Ray Player (DP-UB420-K-Black) because: 1) My old Panasonic 3D Streaming Blu-Ray Player was beginning to lag and freeze during playing; especially certain apps. 2) My old Panasonic worked well for many years, so I thought another Panasonic would be great! (I was wrong!) 3) I had cashed in some of my reward points and had to use them or lose them. 4) I thought, "Newer, same brand... This should be better, or at least the same!" (Again, I was wrong!) Unfortunately, I was sent to Duke for emergency trauma spine surgery within days of ordering this. (It arrived while I was in the hospital.) It was 3-1/2 months before I was able to go home. At that time, I was in severe pain and could not move the recliner so I could connect this to my projector. It was another 2 months before I was able to connect it. Problems: 1) The apps are extremely limited. 2) Over half of the apps are outside of the US, so I am not interested in them. 3) The website link does not open anything for me, but goes to a black screen. 4) The Amazon Prime app will SOMETIMES allow you to log in, but then it jumps back to the main menu before you can select the user. IF you are lucky enough to get past that point, once you click the search link (before you can type anything into the search option), it jumps back to the main screen. It was too late to return this unit by the time I got home and was able to connect this, so I unplugged it and connected my old Panasonic Blu-Ray back up. This one is back in the box on a shelf in the top of my closet. (It cost too much to use as a boat anchor, so I'll simply let it collect dust until I can afford to get another 3D Blu-Ray player, and that one will NOT be Panasonic!)

This is a really great quality player. Easy to use, really clear picture. Highly recommend it.

Paired this with the Epson 3800 projector and I've not been disappointed. The picture quality is fantastic. Never seen discs look so crisp and 3D content looks better than I've ever seen. The only cons is the streaming capabilities. The interface looks to be from the 90s. There's not many useful apps besides Netflix. Buy an Apple TV to pick up the slack and you're good to go.

I purchased The Panasonic DP-UB420-K from Best Buy in October 2021. I was looking for superior image and ability to play Region-B Blu-Ray disks. Good thing that on this Panasonic I was able to watch Region-B Blu-Ray movies. But, to my disappointment all local Region-A Blu-Ray movies Panasonic DP-UB420-K plays with above average quality. I noticed this deference compared with LG BP175 Blu-Ray that I own too (I purchased it in 2019 from Walmart for $69). So, I connected both players with the HDTV, AudioQuest 4K 48gbps HDMI cable, Blu-Ray Disk, but the quality of picture on LG Blu-Ray Player is sharper and superior compared to the Panasonic DP-UB420-K. Only difference that Panasonic has more colors as for example red as very red (very noticeable like Nikon cameras), but also it has a slightly seen crops/dots on the TV screen that LG does not have. So, I thought I was mistaking and I had to use another new SONY LED 4K UHD TV, new AudioQuest 4K 48gbps HDMI cable, Blu-Ray Disk, and still it was the same. I returned the first Panasonic player back to Best Buy for exchange for another, but unfortunately second Panasonic DP-UB420-K did not make any difference with above average quality picture still was the same compared with LG BP175. Still, I am keeping Panasonic DP-UB420-K because it can play Region-B Blu-Ray.

Great value. Easy setup and clear pictures. Low profile.

This is our second DVD player. The first one worked for years and when it broke, we were quick to get a new one. We got the same model and it works wonderfully. We watch a lot of DVD’s. It is so easy to use.

The device was easy to install and set up. It plays our movies and provides a great video experience.

Canceled all my streaming service of a total of 70 dollar. Wasn't even watching any of it. Now I'm checking out dvds and blueyrays at my local library and with this Panasonic 4k hi res and dvds and bluerays look awesome. Does a good job
