All in all, performs its job well. Replaces another manufacturers product that was subject to freezing during play, a problem this machine has not demonstrated. Remembers pause points for most disks, but I've found its safest to change the view on pause to display the current time counter.

Keep in mind that I did not open the box and returned the DVD because we use streaming devices and there is no need for the duplicate smart features in this DVD. My son has a good unit but wanted this for the smart capabilities. I had a new spare streaming unit laying around that he uses instead.

Overall it worked - mainly used for physical media, no streaming, but it's only getting 3 stars b/c the disc tray jammed with a blu-ray (not a 4K blu-ray) - then the disc tray shot out making player unusable. I sent to Panasonic in FL as they were kind enough to provide me w/ a prepaid UPS label - they were unable to repair/replace so they are issuing a full refund. They were surprised at this model having complications which leads me to believe mine was a Lemon. I would look for Panasonic in the future.

I got this player to use with an old 720p TV. I knew it was more player than the TV would justify but figured it would be more "future proof" than a lesser player. It would not communicate with the old TV. I ended up using it to upgrade my newer living room Sony 4K TV.

It works. But the software on it looks very dated and you can’t get most streaming apps. You can Netflix. But for the price I thought I would be able to download more. Hopefully they’ll be a software update. The price doesn’t justify what I got.

Very nice machine and enjoying it plays disc including music, old dvd, blue ray etc. Fits perfectly and it did give a bit of concern setting it up but was easy since I am not a computer people. The sales people very knowledgeable and knew what cable I would need to go from DVD toTV

I’m on a Panasonic 65 inch TV that is pretty old. But it Has the plasma screen and is the best blacks you can find. That’s why I decided to go with this plasma DVR so they would match up better. And they have. I am extremely happy with my purchase. And Best Buy gave me a great deal on the purchase.

I'm happy I brought this model seeing that the one above only has one difference, not worthy of the extra money I would've spent (and the top one I cannot see paying that premium right now).

Wanted the 420 and got a deal on an 'open box' in excellent condition. I have purchased open box items from BB in the past, with great success. Don't fear buying one. The 420 has all of the attributes of the 820 except Dolby Atmos, which was not a need for me. It works great and provides excellent UHD 4k images, as well as SD and DVD. You won't be disappointed with this Panasonic.

This does not have Dolby vision but has excellent processing. Because I am using this attached to a projector (which would not have Dolby Vision), I didn’t feel the need to step any higher to a next level player. Haven’t used for streaming as I have other devices for this but the load time for blu ray discs is very quick.
