Take it out of the box, plug it in, set the temperature dial and let it cool down. We have it in our basement and are using it as overflow storage for our kitchen freezer. It comes with one basket that hangs from the top rim. I like to be organized and control the potential chaos, so I purchased small plastic milk crate type bins that stack up nicely and just make it easier to find stuff.
