Plastic pieces started blowing out of it

After installation I turned it on and it immediately started banging and clanging so I shut it off immediately. When I disconnected it to return it I noticed plastic pieces inside the vent hose. I removed those plastic pieces and thought maybe that was the noise I was hearing blowing around inside. So I turned it back on and it operated for a few minutes but never cooled. Suddenly it started making a racket again and it was shooting out big hunks of plastic from inside the unit. I haven't the slightest idea what was going on with that but I returned it and I'm not sure if I will buy this same brand again or not.
